March of 2005 Dr. Phil - yes, the in your face - "What do you want?" - person that you may have seen on T.V. created a lifestyle training program in the Dallas, Texas area in 1985. Of
course, Dr. Phil is no longer involved with the organization, but the legacy and the program still exists. The concept of "What do you want?" is one of the most difficult questions to answer -
when faced with all of the outside influencers that we have in our lives. But through this training, I learned some extremely valuable tools that have helped me forge a new life, with God
guiding me every step of the way. The training itself is incredibly difficult to go through, because one has to face their innermost difficulties. But God's promise prevails, when we
trust in Him:
1 Peter 5:10 - But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
God puts on my heart, scripture that points out areas where I am going against His will. I call upon Him for help and he works in me and through me to burn away anything that is not of
Malachi 3:3 - He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi,And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the Lord An offering in
1 Peter 1:7 - that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus
Imagine what it means to be tested by fire. I've been tested many times and each time, I get closer to what His design and plan is for me, because I call to Him to work in my life. But, it's usually hard!
Yesterday was an amazing day. To hear from my wife, "I love how you dealt with Devon yesterday during his fit" is such a testimony to the grace that Jesus has shown me. The
micro-choice that I had, I made with grace and while my son still was really mad about the situation, I remained at peace and just loved on him. I dealt with the situation honorably and I have
such a peace about it. Not one regret and guilt free. All because of a choice I had, to manage my inner 4-year old, so that I could manage my outer 5-year old.
Now I did take a video of him, after the 3rd time he told me, "I can't stop crying, It's Haaaaaarrrrrd Daddy!" It actually reminds me of what would go on through my own head. If I can
figure out how to share that, I will.
Had an opportunity to see the SkitGuys in Garland, Texas. What a fun time and having the opportunity to do a meet and greet and speak with them for a few minutes prior to the show. Such a talented duo of guys, bringing some very difficult topics to the surface and addressing them in a creative way. Fantastic talent! If you get the opportunity, check out on
youtube - Skitguys - grace. It's moving!
