There is no substitute for time with God. God is a God of love and of relationship and He desires a relationship with us. Let stop and think about just that. God, the God that created all things the God who knows everything about you; God wants to know you personally. I don’t know about you, but that alone just blows my mind. If God really knew everything about me surely He wouldn’t want to be with me… right? That is so not true. God loves me, God created me, God redeemed me, God sent Jesus for me, God calls me by name, I am precious to God, I matter to God. And so do you. The Bible is a story of God’s love for us His redemption and freedom He offers to us every day. It is our choice whether we accept it or not. When we choose to accept it, it is then our choice what we do with it.
I have learned over the years that my relationship with God is like my relationship with husband. It is what I make of it. I can choose to submit or not. Meaning I can accept the authority and respect it or not. I can choose to be vulnerable and open my heart or keep it closed off. I can choose to spend quality time with him or just say “hi” in passing. I can be genuine and real or I can fake it to the world. Everything we do is a choice. That it’s a choice. So why are choices so hard to make. Why is doing what is best for us so hard. Because we are in a war, a spiritual battle. Our flesh does not want to obey, our fleshly desires are not the desires of our heart. We have an enemy who has come to steal, kill and destroy. This is a truth we need to take to heart. It is real our battle is not against the things we can see, but what we cannot see.
So how do we make the right choice? There is no substitute for time with God.
1 John 4:18 (NKJV) says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…”
Perfect Love casts out all fear. Where there is love there can be no fear. God is that perfect love. When we focus on praising God and worshipping Him we can remove negativity. When we are in prayer and in communication with God we can hear Him and receive hope, prayer is our defense. The Bible is our truth the very word of God, through this we can receive instruction, hope, wisdom and knowledge. God wants us to commune with Him to spend time with Him in His presence. He desires to help us if we only let Him. Let Him in, confess our sins, pour out our heart, ask why, cry out in our pain, and rejoice in our gratitude. Seek first the kingdom of God. Not seek my desires or my needs first, but seek God and His kingdom first. Do you go to your knees as much as you go to your phone? You do pray more or complain more? To complain about a situation is to remain in the situation. Do you think you can solve it or do you lay it at the cross?
Friends are important. Equally yoked friends are important. We need to have people in our life but God still needs to be first. There is power in putting God first. There is a peace and joy that can not be explained when we live for God first. When our focus is to bring God, not our self or others glory, it changes how we see things. It changes our perspective on life. To put on the love of Christ to view the world through God’s eyes is to see beauty in all things. To rejoice in sadness and trials because you know God has gone before you, because you know everything has a greater purpose.
There is no substitute for time with God. Time, real time, with your creator and heavenly Father. As you grow closer to Him, He helps you succeed. He comforts your heart. He heals your wounds. He gives you strength. We serve a good God. A God who loves at all times and a God who waits patiently for us to come back to Him. A God who loves us so much He sent His Son to die on the cross to save us so we could live forever with Him.
Get to know your creator and Father He is a good Father who loves you so unconditionally.
